Taking Ghost Photos |

Ghosts are not that hard to capture on film. A lot depends on timing and environmental factors. When you review your pictures, however, you have to know what to look for. It can take hours, to find distortions that can show evidence of the supernatural. What you are really searching for is apparitions that really stick out - every ghost hunters dream is to capture a full body apparition. You also do not need the most expensive cameras to take photos. My mobile phone camera has taken many shots of ‘ghosts’. Of course, the better the equipment, the better the results. Having a good quality infrared camera or video camera is the best equipment to have for ghost hunting, but any decent digital camera will work fine. Professional ghost organisations now encourage the use of digital camcorders for recording paranormal events. They have had good results with low-lux camcorders and infrared digital cameras. A digital camera is a good way of alerting others as to where the ghostly anomalies are positioned because you can immediately view the photo and see the orbs or ectoplasm. Be weary with digital cameras when taking ghost photos, however, as it is common to pick up ‘white spots’ - caused by dust particles and insects - that can be mistaken for orbs. Below are some common guidelines to ensure a good chance of success. - Choose a cemetery that is old and has some history to it. You are almost garunteed to capture something each time you investigate a cemetery.
- When entering any cemetery you must observe some basic guidelines for successful results. Respect is the most important guideline you should observe. Speak in low voices when you must communicate and avoid chatting. If you are with a small group, everyone must observe these guidelines.
- When you arrive, walk around for the first twenty minutes allowing the spirits to get used to your presence before taking pictures. Spirits will often follow you, so focus your mind and project positive energy and your desire to capture photos of them as proof of life after life existence.
- Speak in a positive manner, spirits will often listen and comment on what you are saying so take along a voice recorder.
- The best time is when the cemetery is getting dark as the darkness highlights the floating orbs when the flash is used.
- Never take pictures when it is raining, snowing, misting or when fog is present. If the temperature is cold and you can see your exhaled breathe than be aware you might be capturing the breathe on film, which will resemble fog.
- If your camera has a strap, either remove it or keep it around your neck or wrist at all times. Be sure to keep fingers and hanging hair away from the lens.
- Remember that a flash will reflect off any surfaces within the four metre range of flash. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid reflective surfaces as the camera flash can bounce off surfaces.
Be sure to take the time to review your photos carefully and ensure you have someone to double check any photos for anomalies, this ensures a more objective outlook on anything you have captured. Feel free to send us any photos you think contain apparitions, we are happy to review them for you and post them on our site.
